從紐約到台北再到澎湖再回到台北。

這一個月持續的忙碌中, 似乎沒有停下來的一刻, 我感覺從今年四月到現在好像還沒有真正的好好休息過, 但是我從這樣的忙碌中體驗到許多生活中的美, 整題而言, 我的精神生活是非常充實的, 每天吸收許多新的刺激, 有時甚至覺得, 能這樣一直忙碌下去真是很幸福的一件事。

和大家分享一張自己頗喜歡的照片, 是上個月 (11 月) 在紐約中央公園拍的, 記得那天因為室友要在家練習弦樂四重奏, 所以我一個人外出散步, 一方面找尋作曲的靈感 (記得當時隔天要彩排, 後天就要錄音了, 我卻仍想要創作一首新曲), 一方面也好好重新“溫習”一下這座美麗的城市。走著走著, 快門按著按著, 而看到這張照片時我微笑了。

在我的記憶中, 那真是非常美好的一天。

Hello everyone,

A Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you all. Hope you all enjoyed a big turkey dinner and are spending time with great friends and family for the weekend.

I’ve been in NYC for 2 weeks now, having a fabulous time here. It has been almost 3 years since I left and moved back to Taiwan, time really flies.. The weather is perfect everyday and good things happen almost all the time. Life is good and I’m truly thankful.

And I am so excited to share this great news here with you all. I’ve just recorded my quintet album this past Monday at Systems Two (great, great studio with the best engineer Mike Marciano) with great, great musicians: Alex (Sasha) Sipiagin on trumpet, Donny McCaslin on tenor saxophone, Boris Kozlov on bass & Donald Edwards on drums. And I myself play on piano & Rhodes here and there  :p

It was such an amazing experience for me and I had such a wonderful time. I sure learned so much from their beautiful playing, it’s just pure magic and non-stop inspirations.

And two days ago I went into Bass Hit Recording to mix the tracks with the best engineer Dave Darlington (again, the best!) and I really can’t wait to have it finished and share it with you all soon. This album again includes all my compositions, mostly new compositions from the past 3 years. There are D&B grooves, funky rhythms, and some slower tempo ballad numbers. My inspirations on these tunes came from some of the places I visited recently, such as the Red Light District in Amsterdam (went there last summer), and a Hong Kong trip I took with my friends Teri & Ko earlier this year. There’s also a new tune I wrote after my friend Esley showed me a photo he took in Jökulsárlón during his visit to Iceland back in the summer. So I guess some of the tunes on this new album are about memories at some places. There are also some other tunes I composed with one of my favorite pianists Thelonious Monk in my mind.

Went to Jazz Gallery again last night, it was amazing. At one point there's 7 musicians on stage: Gerald Clayton, Gretchen Parlato, Chris Dingman, John Ellis, Dayna Stephens, Russell Hall and Justin Brown. It was so inspiring, don't know how to describe it in words again.

Jazz Gallery is such a nice place and I've seen so many great shows there. It's gonna be relocated after December this year tho (after its 17-year history at the current location). Please take a look at their website and support if you can.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. :)

Thank you god (or the unknown power you may say) for everything. I am happy and thankful to be doing what I do. And I'm truly lucky to have so many great friends around, and everyone in the family is healthy. And I get to play the music I love.

荔枝 / update

好久沒有update了...

只能說這真是一個精彩又瑣碎的七月..

今天在Chinatown教完鋼琴後買了一袋荔枝....

歐～荔枝! 真的是我的愛..

我個人超級愛把荔枝冰在冰箱後再拿出來吃

只能用"好滋味"來形容!!

好像也有聽人說把荔枝放冰箱並不好

但我個人是顧不了這麼多..

吃著吃著讓我想到很久以前我媽常會買荔枝回家

我們兩人瘋狂大嗑的美好時光..

歐～真想念我媽!!

不知道她會不會再突然來紐約一趟?!

今天是七月的最後一天啦!!

不管好的時光、不好的時光都過了..

對我來說可說是重要的一個月

因為...

1.

來了紐約快三年了，終於第一次知道/吃到 Chinatown 的武昌排骨.. 和當初過了一年才第一次喝到麥香紅茶的感覺差不多.. 內心的震驚與喜悅不斷的交錯著... 而且還吃到了久違的小黃瓜和魯海帶、豆干雙拼.... 我只能說我真是台灣的女兒!! 哈哈哈

July the 4th 去了一趟 Mr. J 的家才知道什麼叫做 “房間有整片的落地窗面向東河 + 每晚有極美麗的曼哈頓夜景可欣賞, 不想看也看得到...“ 不知為何此時此刻讓我想到了孟母三遷的故事.. (過幾天有空再把相關照片附上..)

歐!! 差點忘了某一天有一個人來看我的鋼琴，我因為要搬家所以必須把小平台鋼琴賣掉，所以在 Craigslist 登了廣告.. 總之這位古典音樂家男子一面彈著我的鋼琴一面 “以非常溫柔的聲音“ 說: "Oh! Hear the bass sounds so tender.. Yeah, I love the touch of this piano.. It's amazing that this small piano gives such a big sound.." （說話的同時琴聲沒有斷過..）總之是一個很奇怪的場景.. 而且這男子彈完鋼琴後用不斷放電的眼神和我說著再見... 我很努力的想他到底是同性戀還是怎樣（行為舉止真的很像同性戀）..? 至今仍然百思不解.. 對了他的眼神讓我有一種很熟悉不知在哪裡看過的感覺，想了又想，原來那就是 Tom Cruise 的眼神啊!!!

還有什麼勒？歐～每星期四晚上的 salsa band rehearsal! 前幾個月吧，認識了一位很厲害的歌手，好像在之前的文章有提過他？我忘了.. 總之最近都有固定的練習，他們（singer, bassist, bongo player, conga player, timbale player）年紀都大我 10~20 歲吧.. 哈哈 但我很 enjoy 和這群人 hangout 呢! （不同年齡層的人討論的話題真的差很多..）

天啊還有什麼.. 歐 對了某一天我竟然莫名其妙的和一個半生不熟的朋友兩個人跑去爬山.. （坐 NJT 到一站叫做 Tuxedo 的地方）這真的是我有記憶以來的第一次 hiking! 真的很莫名，他連地圖都沒有，我也就憑著 “還能怎樣，來都來了“ 的心態硬跟.. 在崎嶇不平的山路整整走了有五個小時左右... 只能說照原定計畫晚上七八點多回到 city 真是老天保佑.. 敬請期待之後的詳細報導 (如果我有空的話.. 過幾天有空再把相關照片附上..)

滿月那天時我看到一顆超級大且色澤呈現暗黃的月亮!! 我是和劉耐力一起目睹的.. 話說耐力就這麼噗通一聲的回台灣了... 真想念她~ (過幾天有空再把相關照片附上..)

對了，某天錄完音後去了 Cachaca 聽 Mr. V 和 Mr. N 幫一位歌手伴奏的演出.. 見到老朋友真的很開心!! 好久沒有看到 Mr. N 了，想當年我剛來紐約時他大概是我唯一最常聊天的朋友吧.. 聽完表演後和他和其他友人去吃了東村的日本料理，之後再去 bar 小酌... 只能一同感嘆時光飛逝啊!!

哎.. 寫的我真累.. 但不寫下來我大概下個月就忘光了吧.. 人家到時問我 "Hey how's your summer?" 總不好又說.."Hum.. you know what? I don't remember what happened.." 哈哈～ 好，上星期經由 salsa 歌手的介紹，和他去了一趟 Long Island 幫一位 DJ錄音.. 這位 DJ 在八零年代是很紅的 DJ ,現在也是吧?! 他同時也是很重要的製作人，弄一些舞曲混音的專輯等等，之前有飆到 Billboard Top 5 的那種.. 總之是一個很有趣的經驗! 就像是在 Long Island 渡假一天一般.. 因為我的晚餐可是在小湖、夕陽、帆船旁的露天義大利餐廳中享用的呢! (過幾天有空再把相關照片附上..)

終於到了昨晚... 昨晚我和最近一起練團的 rock band 在Bleeker St. 上的一家 bar 表演.. 真的是很酷的體驗! rock band 需要的就是熱血的精神啊!! 總之 bar 裡的人根本就都喝醉了吧，我們的歌又夠搖滾，所以每唱完一首都獲得尖叫與掌聲! 是一種重氣氛多過於重音樂品質（當然我們的音樂是有品質的..）的表演形態。 而且我這輩子第一次發覺了 beerpong 的存在.. 至今仍在震驚當中.. 不了解為何這些老美們可以玩 beerpong 玩得這麼開心... (過幾天有空再把相關照片附上..)

10.

十全十美，終於在第十項結束了我的 update!! 最後這個月最常發生的事當然還是我不斷的坐在鋼琴旁邊當老師以及不斷的坐在鋼琴旁邊當學生.. 歐還有一個接一個的 transcribing project! 感謝大家對我的磨練，讓我現在用 Sibelius 用的很上手! （非常感謝當初 Mr. Chen 整晚的教學...）歐還有我日前去看了 Dark Knight.. 只能說我一定會再去看一次.. 對於 Heath Ledger 這位極優秀演員的死亡.. 只能說.. R.I.P.

昨天真的是一個很奇怪的日子..

不斷的和不同的人溝通

腦子裡大概有九樣不同的人、事、物在轉著..

這些和我相關，彼此卻不相關的人們對我用不同的聲音說著說著..

說著說著說著..

在大自然中 聲音、聲響本該是單純的沒有意義的..

但是人類發出來的聲音卻是一種為了達到目的的手段..

稱之為溝通..

也許我真的該想想如何去避免這種無謂的誤解..

也許我只想要片刻的寧靜..

悶..

覺得很悶...

很想回到上上星期只需要在家練琴的時光...

只是突然間有一堆事情要做... 非常之瑣碎..

昨晚室友回家一開她的房門竟然發現天花板在漏水..

我還真的沒有遇過這種事情

只見天花板的油漆隨著裡面的積水軟化下垂..

就像一張合不攏的大嘴無奈的滴著討人厭的口水..

"滴答 滴答 滴答 滴滴滴滴滴.."

我覺得電鈴的聲音真的很重要

像我家的是那種 "叮咚" 標準型號

可是.. 超級刺耳!!!!

無論按電鈴的人是處於什麼樣的情緒

無論觸碰電鈴的那隻手指是長繭或是相當纖細..

從屋裡聽起來總像是

"ㄟ! 給我開門啦! 現在啦! 快!"

........真的是非常不留情

每次我的心跳真的都要上升直衝

搞得我緊張兮兮的..

所以我現在最討厭那種習慣重複按多次電鈴的人..

也許不久的將來

人類會發明偵測內心情緒激動指數的精密碰觸式電鈴

按鈴的人心情或是目的如何就直接反應在電鈴聲響上

那我就只需要應付有急事的人

或是送外賣來的人就好..
